From the University of Michigan Museum of Zoology, the Animal Diversity Web is an easy-to-search, in-depth resource where you can browse animals by kingdom, phylum, subphlylum and class, and learn about scientific naming of animals. Extensive pictures also help, and students can click on pictures to reach more information about a particular species.

Art 2 Heart is an ‘art sharing program’ that crosses borders, ages, genders, religions and socio-economic lines. Its sole purpose is to connect underprivileged children with someone else in the world who cares. Through Art 2 Heart, you can give these children something of their own, made just for them, and they have a chance to give back. (Did I mention that Art2Heart was started by my very dear friend Nance Miller? She is rich in both art and heart!)
A dialogue is created through a pen-pal type system using art instead of words. All pictures are to be on standard paper, 8.5 x 11 inches (or A5), for accessibility, ease in mailing and continuity. No e-mail, as we want children to hold and touch a unique creation, just for them. Pictures need not be elaborate at all, and any kind of drawing, rubbing, painting or collage works. The only requirement is that they include “To: (child’s name),” and “From: (partner’s name)” somewhere on the front… Learn more details on the web site, or by contacting Art2Heart, 559 Marin Ave., Mill Valley, CA 94941, USA
